The RG421EX is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2024. It is manufactured in Indonesia and replaced a model with the same name which has pickup rings and a different output jack.
The RG421EX features a meranti body with black and white multi binding attached to a maple neck with a Wizard III profile and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and white dot position markers. Components include a pair of direct-mounted Ibanez Quantum humbucking pickups, a fixed bridge, a mono-unit output jack with integrated metal plate, and die-cast tuning machines.
The RG421 is very similar except that it lacks the body and fretboard binding and has cosmo black hardware. The RG421S is a similar model with a natural finish back and different top finish and binding. The RG421PB and RG421QM are similar models with, respectively, poplar burl and quilted maple tops. The RG421EXL is a left-handed version. The RG7421EX is a seven string version. The RG421AHM is a related model with an ash body and a maple fretboard. The RG420EX is a similar model with tremolo bridge.
