The RG270 is an RG series solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 1998. This model replaced the very similar RG270R as well as a previous model with a maple fretboard. This model was made in Korea, but in 2001 and 2002 another model with the same name was produced concurrently in Japan.
The RG270 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a single locking tremolo bridge and Ibanez Powersound pickups. For 2002 the SLT101 single-locking tremolo was replaced by a ILT1 double locking tremolo.
This Korean-made version has a different bridge, nut, tuners and hardware color than the Japanese-made version, but is otherwise similar.
The RG270DX is a similar model with sharktooth position markers. The RG270L is a left-handed version. The RG220 is a similar model without the middle pickup.
This version of the RG270 was discontinued after 2002.
