The RG2470MZ is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2008. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line. It was introduced as part of the 2008 Limited Edition series along with the RG2450MZ.
The RG2470MZ features a basswood body bolted to a maple and walnut Wizard neck with a 24-fret maple fingerboard with small black dot position markers. Components include DiMarzio/IBZ pickups with a pair of humbuckers mounted directly to the body flanking a single-coil, an Edge Zero double locking tremolo bridge with a removable ZPS3 tuning stabilizer and Gotoh tuning machines.
The RG2450MZ is a similar model with a smoked mirror pickguard. The RG2470MZ and the RG2450MZ were the first RG models produced with maple fingerboards since the RG1550 was discontinued after 2004. Maple fingerboards returned to the regular production lineup in 2009 on no fewer than ten new RG models.
