The RG2450MZ is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2008. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line. It was introduced as part of the 2008 Limited Edition series along with the RG2470MZ.
The RG2450MZ features a basswood body bolted to a maple and walnut Wizard neck with a 24-fret maple fingerboard with small black dot position markers. Components include DiMarzio/IBZ pickups mounted in a smoked mirror pickguard with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil, an Edge Zero double locking tremolo bridge with a removable ZPS3 tuning stabilizer and Gotoh tuning machines.
The RG2470MZ is a similar model without the pickguard. The RG2450MZ and the RG2470MZ were the first RG models produced with maple fingerboards since the RG1550 was discontinued after 2004. Maple fingerboards returned to the regular production lineup in 2009 on no fewer than ten new RG models.
The RG2550Z is a related model with a rosewood fingerboard with wedge sharktooth inlays.
The RG2450MZ was discontinued after 2008, but returned to the lineup for Japan only in 2010. It was discontinued for good after 2010.
