The RG240 is a Roadstar II series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1987. The Roadstar II series would eventually become known as the RG series.
The RG240 is one of only a handful of RG models with humbucker/single/single pickup configuration. It's also one of only a few RG models produced with a 22-fret neck. It had the sharp-edged body style which distinguishes it from the older Roadstar body.
The RG240 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret fingerboard with dot inlays. Components included Ibanez pickups with a humbucker at the bridge and single coil pickups in the middle and neck positions and a double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut.
In 1987 the controls consisted of volume and tone pots with a 5-way pickup selector and a Duo-Sound coil-tap toggle for the humbucker. For 1988 the controls were revamped with a volume pot, and separate toggles for each pickup, with the humbucker toggle allowing a coil-tap functionality.
The RG250 is a similar model with a flamed maple top and back. The RG340 is another somewhat similar model.
The RG240 was discontinued after 1988.
