The RG1XXV 25th Anniversary is an RG series solid body electric guitar model offered by Ibanez in 2012. It was produced to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the RG line and as a tribute to the original 1987 RG550.
The RG1XXV was produced in Indonesia at the plant which produces instruments for the mid-grade Premium series. Production of this special model was overseen by experienced Japanese luthiers who were brought in from FujiGen.
The RG1XXV features a basswood body bolted to a maple and walnut Wizard neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth position markers. Components include DiMarzio/Ibanez pickups mounted in a black pickguard with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil, an Edge Zero II double locking tremolo bridge with a removable ZPS tuning stabilizer. Most RG1XXV's have KTS titanium reinforcing rods in the neck, but toward the end of the production run some were made without these rods.
The RG1XXV was offered in two fluorescent colors: pink and yellow. The headstock, pickup bobbins, knobs and sharktooth markers all match the body color.
Other twenty-fifth anniversary guitar models were the RG2XXV and the RG3XXV as well as the S1XXV. These differ from the RG1XXV in that were all produced in the regular (non-Premium) Indonesian plants.
The RG2XXV lacks some of the flair of RG1XXV with standard dot position markers and different pickups. The RG3XXV has a humbucker/ single coil pickup arrangement similar to the classic RG565.
The RG1XXV was offered only in 2012.
