The RG172B is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1998.

The RG172B features an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a synchronized tremolo bridge, dual Ibanez humbucking pickups and black hardware.

The RG120 is a similar model with a mahogany body and chrome hardware. The RG170B is a related model with a mahogany body which adds a middle single coil pickup.

The RG172B was available only in Japan and was discontinued after a single year of production.
