The RG170 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1997. It had a production run of six years during which time it was among the most affordable RG models.
The RG170 features an agathis body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret maple fingerboard with black dot position markers. Components include a synchronized tremolo bridge and Ibanez Powersound pickups in an HSH configuration.
The RG170R is a similar model with a rosewood fretboard while the RG170DX has a rosewood fretboard and sharktooth position markers. The RG160B is a related model with a single coil pickup in the neck position.
