The RG1680X is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2001. It is part of the exclusive J Custom line.
The RG1680X features a flame maple top on a mahogany body with bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with offset dot position markers. Components include DiMarzio pickups with PAF Pro and Steve's Special humbuckers flanking a Blue Velvet single-coil, a Double Lo Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge with integrated L.R. Baggs active piezo pickup saddles for acoustic-like sound, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
Unlike previous piezo models like the RG2020X and RG2027X, the RG1680X features a two-band EQ for the piezo and has a 3-way toggle for selecting magnetic pickup only, piezo only or mixed output. The magnetic pickup and piezo signals can each be routed to separate outputs.
