The RG-GEAR1 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model offered by Ibanez in 1997. They were produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale J Custom line.
The most striking feature of the RG-GEAR1 is its corrugated walnut top with gear design and matching headstock. It has a mahogany body with that 5mm thick walnut top with natural binding bolted to a maple Wizard neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. Components include DiMarzio pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines and Free-lock strap locks.
The RG-GEAR1 was produced only in 1997 in limited numbers.
