The RD909 was a four-string Roadbass series solid-body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1988. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
Roadbass series bodies evolved since the previous year. The square profile with a hard edge and pointy headstock are roughly shaped after an introduced year earlier RG series.
The RD909 features a double-cutaway basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth inlays and a black headstock. Components include a PJ configuration with Dimarzio made IBZ/USA pickups,an Accu-cast BII fixed bridge with 19mm string spacing, chrome hardware and Gotoh tuning machines.
The RD727 and RD828LE are similar models with different pickup configurations.
The RD909 was offered only in 1988.
