The RB824 features a double-cutaway basswood body with arched top bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers, white side dots and a matching headstock. Components include a pair of Super J6 passive pickups , an Accu-cast B II bridge with 19mm string spacing, a plastic nut, Ibanez Smooth Tuner BII tuning machines and Ibanez "Dead End" strap buttons.
For 1986 the pickups were changed to HI-B.
The RB820 is a related model with alder body and 21-frets. The RB924 is a related model with alder body and bird's eye maple top. The RB845 is a related fretless version.
