The RB808LE was a four-string Roadbass series solid-body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in 1987. It was made in Japan. It was one of the two Roadbass body varieties available this year. This one evolved into SR series, like SR1000E. The second, more hard-edged, evolved into RD series, for example RD707. The pointy headstock is similar to the one introduced the same year for RG series.
The RB808LE features a double-cutaway basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers and a black headstock. Components include a low impedance Lo-B and Lo-J pickups and an Omni-Adjust bridge with 19mm string spacing, black hardware and Gotoh tuning machines.
The RB707E is parallel model from the RB series with more hard-edged body and different neck profile. RB808 is very similar model with passive pickups. In 1987 the series changed the prefix to RD and was re-modelled after highly-popular RG series with harder body-edges and more aggressive look.
