The RB630 features a double-cutaway basswood and birch body bolted to a maple neck with a maple headstock and a 21-fret maple fingerboard with black dot position markers and black side dots. Components include a Super J4 Jazz-style pickup direct-mounted near the bridge along with a Super P4 Precision-style pickup mounted in a white pickguard, a standard bridge with vintage-style saddles and 19mm string spacing, a plastic nut, Hercules B precision tuning machines, Sure Grip II knobs, and Dead End strap buttons.
For 1986 the fingerboard was changed to rosewood with pearl dot position markers, the pickguard was changed to black, and the headstock was painted to match the body.
The RB650L is a left-handed version. The RB630 is a similar model without the bridge pickup. The RB680 is a related model with a pair of P-style pickups, a different bridge, and no pickguard.
