The PS40 is a solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2015. It is a signature model of guitarist Paul Stanley of the American hard rock band KISS. It was produced in China.
The introduction of the PS40 (along with the PS120) marked Stanley's return to Ibanez. Stanley had previously been an Ibanez endorser off and on since the 1970's and is closely associated with the Iceman body style.
The PS40 is a more affordable version of the PS120. It features a poplar body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez humbucking pickups, a Tune-O-Matic style fixed bridge with tailpiece and a chrome pickguard with a reproduction of Stanley's autograph.
In mid-2017 a new fretboard material, treated New Zealand pine, replaced rosewood.[1]
The PS40 was discontinued after 2017, being replaced by the PS60.
