Other Ibanez pickups

The HS1, an humbucker-sized, single-coil pickup on the DN400

Other pickups made by Ibanez which don't belong to any regular line. Most of them are pickups from the late 80's, mid 90's and not much is known about them.

Some of them are very exclusive pickups which are found on non-standard series.

Old series

HB2

Model no.: HB2 Construction: Humbucker Position: Bridge

Description: Has one traditional coil and one with a blade. Can be found on the RG565 [It] delivers a "fat", harmonically active sound. The most powerful lead pickup in the American-Designed series.

SB1

Model no.: SB1 Construction: Humbucker Position: Neck/ Middle

Description: A single-coil-sized humbucker, twin blade, which often comes along with the HB2 humbucker (see above). Can be used in the neck position, like the RG565 or in the middle and neck positions as seen on the RBM series (Reb Beach signatures), like the RBM1.

SB2

Model no.: SB1 Construction: Humbucker Position: Neck/ Middle

Description: A single-coil-sized humbucker, twin blade like the SB1. Can be found in the neck/ mid position either with a SB1 in the bridge (on the 542R), or with Axis pickups in the bridge (on the FGM400, Frank Gambale's signature).

V6F

Model no.: V6F Construction: Humbucker Position: Neck/ Bridge

Description: Equips the RG1421F, both in the neck and bridge position.

PP1-N, PP1-B

Model no.: PP1-N, PP1-B Construction: Humbucker Position: Neck/ Bridge

Description: Introduced in 2009, along with the new Darkstone series (see DN500). The PP1 were re-named CAP-PP1 in 2011. The tube pole-piece construction of the new pickups designed for the Ibanez Darkstone offers quick response, sparkling clarity and added harmonics for a humbucker sound. At the same time, humbucker-sized single-coil pickups were also introduced in the Darkstone series, the HS1 pickups (see below).

HS1

Model no.: HS1 Construction: Single coil Position: Neck/ Bridge

Description: Humbucker-sized single-coil pickups introduced in 2009 in the Darkstone series, along with the PP1 pickups (see above). Only two models use the HS1, the DN400 and the DN600. [They] produce loud and crunchy tones that cut through for hard rock and punk styles.

Classic Elite
