The Ibanez Mikro (or miKro) series is a line of short-scale (or 3/4 size) solid body electric guitars produced by Hoshino Gakki. Most Mikro model have been sold as part of the affordable GIO series; the exception is the RGM55, which is part of the RG series. The first Mikro was introduced in 2005 and has been in production since with several models.

The Mikro series is aimed primarily at adolescent players and those with smaller hands, but is also useful as a travel guitar due to it's smaller dimensions.

Origins

The Mikro line was introduced in 2005 with the GRGM21, which features a downsized RG-style body and a 22.2" scale neck with a rosewood fingerboard and signature Ibanez "sharktooth" inlays. The GRGM21M model was added in 2009. The "M" differs from the original by employing a maple fretboard with black dot inlays. A left-handed model of the original (Rosewood fretboard) Mikro, the GRGM21L was added in 2010.
