The Ibanez Mikro (or miKro) series is a line of short-scale (or 3/4 size) solid body electric guitars produced by Hoshino Gakki. The Mikro line is part of the affordable GIO series. It was introduced in 2005 and has been in production since with several models.
The Mikro series is aimed primarily at adolescent players and those with smaller hands, but is also useful as a travel guitar due to it's smaller dimensions. To date all members of the Mikro line are outfitted with dual humbucker pickups.
Origins
The Mikro line was introduced in 2005 with the GRGM21, which features an downsized RG-style body and a 22.2" scale neck with a rosewood fingerboard and signature Ibanez "sharktooth" inlays. The GRGM21M model was added in 2009. The "M" differs from the original GRG Mikro by employing a light colored maple fretboard with round black inlays. A left-handed model of the original (Rosewood fretboard) Mikro, the GRGM21L was added in 2010.
