The miKro (or Mikro) series is a line of short-scale (or 3/4 size) solid body electric guitars and basses produced for Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand.

The miKro series is aimed primarily at adolescent players and those with smaller hands, but is also useful as a travel guitar or bass due to it's smaller dimensions.

Origins[]

The miKro line was introduced for 2006 with the GRGM21, which features a downsized RG-style body and a 22.2" scale neck with a rosewood fingerboard and signature Ibanez "sharktooth" inlays. The GRGM21M model was added in 2009. The "M" differs from the original by employing a maple fretboard with black dot inlays. A left-handed model of the original (Rosewood fretboard) miKro, the GRGM21L was added in 2010.

For 2007 electric basses were added to the miKro lineup with the Soundgear series GSRM models. These basses feature downsized bodies and 28.6" short scale necks.

Most miKro models have been part of the entry-level GIO line. The exception is the RGM55, which was part of the standard RG series.
