The MX5 is a Maxxas series semi-hollow body electric guitar model produced by Ibanez in 1988. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen. It is also referred to as the MX-5.

The MX5 features a semi-hollow, thin-edged, sculpted maple body bolted to a color-matched painted maple neck with a 29-fret rosewood fingerboard with oval position markers. It has only a single humbucking pickup and a stainless steel HQ synchronized tremolo bride. The lack of a neck pickup and the extra deep cutaway on the lower horn allow access all the way up to the 29th fret.

The MX4 is a similar model with a fixed bridge. The MX3 is a related model with just 24-frets and dual humbuckers.

The MX5 was produced only in 1989.
