The MX2 is a solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1987. It was the initial model in the Maxxas series. It was also variously referred to as the MX-2, the MX2H and the MX2-2H.
The Maxxas has a smooth, thin-edged, sculpted offset double-cutaway body of Honduras mahogany bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include dual IBZ/USA humbucking pickups, a chrome Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a Back Stop stabilizer, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The MX2 is the only Maxxas built with a solid body (the rest featured a semi-hollow construction) and a double locking tremolo. It was discontinued after just one year in production, making way for the semi-hollow Maxxas models which were introduced in 1988.
