The MRG2 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2003. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high end J Custom line. The MRG2 is also referred to as the MRG1QMG and it was a spot model sold exclusively by Japanese retailer Kurosawa Gakki.
The MRG2 features a mahogany body with a quilted maple top bolted to a maple and bubinga Wizard neck with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard with flamed maple binding and offset abalone dot position markers. Components include a pair of DiMarzio humbucking pickups, an Edge Pro double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuning machines.
The MRG2 was based on the more widely available RG8570 but without the mid pickup and with a ebony fingerboard and gold hardware. The MRG1 is a similar model with cosmo black hardware. The MRG3 is a similar model with a flame maple top.
