The MRG16 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2017. It is made in Japan by FujiGen as a spot model for sale exclusively by Japanese retailer Kurosawa Gakki. It is part of the high-end J Custom line and is also referred to as the RG8520M.
The MRG16 features a 4mm thick flamed maple top with natural binding on an ash body bolted to a maple and wenge neck with VelveTouch finish and a selected maple fingerboard with flame maple binding and Tree of Life inlays. Components include a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a pair of DiMarzio humbucking pickups with a mini-toggle coil split switch, Gotoh tuning machines and Gotoh locking strap pins.
A RG8520 is a related model with an African mahogany back, Macassar ebony fingerboard, different pickups and cosmo black hardware.
