The MDB5 is a solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in 2022. It is the fifth signature model for American bassist Mike D'Antonio who is best known for his work with the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. It was produced in Indonesia.
The MDB5 replaced the MDB4 which had been discontinued after 2020.
The MDB5 features a Destroyer series okume body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with a seven pointed star logo at the twelfth fret. Components include a pair of Seymour Duncan passive bass pickups with a J-bass pickup at the bridge and a P-bass pickup at the neck, an Accu-cast fixed bridge, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines. Controls consist of a master volume and a balancer on the front along with a master tone control on the rear cavity cover.
