The MDB4 is a solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in 2016. It is the fourth signature model for American bassist Mike D'Antonio who is best known for his work with the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. It was produced in Indonesia.
The MDB4 replaced the MDB3.
The MDB4 features a Destroyer series mahogany body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with a seven pointed star logo at the twelfth fret. Components include a pair of Seymour Duncan passive bass pickups with a J-bass pickup at the bridge and a P-bass pickup at the neck, an Accu-cast fixed bridge, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines. Controls consist of a master volume and a balancer on the front along with a master tone control on the rear cavity cover.
For 2018 the rosewood fretboard was replaced with jatoba. For 2019 the mahogany body was replaced with nyatoh.
The MDB4 was discontinued after 2020 and replaced by the MDB5 in 2022.
