The MDB2 is a solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2009. It is the second signature model for American bassist Mike D'Antonio who is best known for his work with the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. It was produced in Indonesia and replaced the MDB1.
The MDB2 is based on the SRX700. It features neck through body construction with mahogany wings on a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with a seven pointed star logo at the twelfth fret. The body is a Soundgear shape with deeply beveled cutaway horns and a laser engraved graphic on the face. Components include a pair of Ibanez passive humbucking bass pickups with an EQB2DX preamp and a single volume control, an Accu-cast fixed bridge, a plastic nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The MDB2 was discontinued after 2012 and replaced by the Destroyer derived MDB3.
