The MC2940 is an Musician series fret-less solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1986. It was produced in Japan.

The MC2940 features neck-through-body construction on ash attached to a maple and walnut neck with a fret-less ebony fingerboard with white off-set dot position markers and a matching headstock. Components include an Accu-cast BII fixed bridge with 19mm string spacing, and a pair of Ibanez LO-B pickup's channeled through a 2-Band EQ, a plastic nut, smooth tuner II tuning machines and gold hardware.

The MC2924 is a similar fretted model.

The MC2940 was discontinued after 1987.
