The LACS9 "ECHO" is an eight string RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2022. It was crafted by L. A. Custom Shop in California as part of the 50th anniversary of Ibanez’s US-based distributor Hoshino U.S.A. Inc.
The LACS9 is a One-off model which is sold exclusively by select Ibanez music retailers.
The LACS9 - "ECHO" features box set neck construction with white mahogany body and quilted maple top, a 5 piece roasted maple neck, with rosewood fingerboard, 24 jumbo frets with Custom pearloid and maple Tree of Life, luminlay side dots inlays and a matching headstock. Components include a DiMarzio Ionizer 8 Neck™ Humbucking pickups on the neck position and a DiMarzio Ionizer 8 Bridge™ Humbucking pickups in the bridge position, an Ibanez Gibraltar Standard II (fixed) bridge, gold hardware, Gotoh MB-500 Mini machine heads and includes hardshell case & certificate of authenticity.
The name Echo, is derived from the hollowed out body wings of this guitar and how if one found themselves alone in any type of chamber, they might hear an echo or two. Even out of sight, the hidden hollow body construction may be the most unique feature of this RG8. While the choice was primarily made for increased warmth and resonance, it also greatly reduced the overall weight of the instrument. At 7.5 pounds, this may very well be the lightest 8-string RG ever built.
An unusual feature of the RG8 is a modified take on the classic bolt-on neck pocket. The box set neck construction provides a fuller and tighter contact between the neck and body, allowing for excellent resonance throughout the entire range of the instrument.
