LACS12 - "SWEET PEAT" Background
The RG770 was first introduced in 1990 and, for many years, it sat atop the iconic RG series. This iteration of the venerable 770 was conceptualized by the LA Custom Shop as a fusion of different RG770 design traits from various models, as well as a few special features exclusive to this custom shop one-off. One major visual highlight is the heavily Quilted Maple top, a feature borrowed from the RG770QM. The top is also stained in a rich green from which the “Sweet Peat,” moniker is derived. Direct mounted pickups, a popular highlight of the RG770 standard models, are also featured. The team opted for a clear pickguard in order to incorporate a signature element from the RG770DX reissue models from 2008. The neck-thru design, Quilted Maple fretboard binding, headstock volute and natural matte finished back and sides are all additional custom features exclusive to this guitar.
The LACS12 - "SWEET PEAT" features neck-through-body construction with mahogany body and quilted maple top attached to a 3 piece maple and purpleheart neck, with rosewood fingerboard, 24 jumbo frets with Pearloid Sharktooth and luminlay side dots inlays and a matching headstock. Components are a IBZ/USA F2™ Humbucking pickups on the neck, a IBZ/USA C2™ single coil pickup in the middle position and a IBZ/USA F3™ Humbucking pickups on the bridge position, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, cosmo black hardware, a transparent pickguard, gotoh MB-500 machine heads and includes hardshell case & certificate of authenticity.
