LACS11 - "AMETHYST" Background
The LACS team designed this axe as an homage to perhaps the most famous RG model ever, the RG550. The Trans Purple finish is intended to evoke recollections of the original RG550-PN as well as lean into “Amethyst,” the nickname of this guitar. Certain features from the original design such as a top routed body, CK hardware, and an Edge tremolo system are present, intertwined with a multitude of remarkable customizations. Probably the most unique aspect is the neck-thru construction, given that the vast majority of the 550 models were bolt-on guitars.
The LACS11 - "AMETHYST" features neck-through-body construction with mahogany body and .9” quilted maple top attached to a 3 piece maple and purpleheart neck, with rosewood fingerboard, 24 jumbo frets with recerse pearloid Sharktooth and luminlay side dots inlays and a matching headstock. Components are a DiMarzio PAF Pro™ Humbucking pickups on the neck, a DiMarzio True Velvet™ single coil pickup in the middle position and a DiMarzio Super Distortion™ Humbucking pickups on the bridge position, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge, cosmo black hardware, a white pearloid pickguard, gotoh MB-500 machine heads and includes hardshell case & certificate of authenticity.
