The KRG1602 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1996. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high end J Custom range. It was a spot model which never appeared in a catalog that was produced for and sold exclusively by Japanese retailer Musicland Key. This model may also have been referred to as simply the RG1602.
The KRG1602 features a mahogany body with a 7mm thick AAA flamed maple top bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with offset dot position inlays. Components include dual DiMarzio humbucking pickups, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The KRG1502 is a similar model with different pickups. The RG1608 is a similar model which adds a single coil pickup between the two humbuckers. The RG1302 is a related model with an ash body and different pickups. The RG1622 is a related model with an American basswood body with a redwood and walnut top and different pickups. The RGR1700 is another similar model with a reverse headstock and different pickups.
