The KMA1 (also know to as KMA-1) is a limited edtion fret-less Oriental series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2010. It is a Signature guitar of Kuwait artist Kamal Musallam. This model is based on the Talman acoustic series and inspired by the Oud. It was produced in China.
The KMA1 features a double cutaway body with a spruce top with an oval soundhole with intricate exotic oriental marquetry on mahogany back and sides. The maple neck has a fret-less ebony with 21 fret lines and additional quarter-tone frets-lines at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 12th positions. Components include a compensated plastic saddle in an ebony bridge , a plastic nut, and chrome Ibanez tuning machines.
Electronics consist of an Ibanez B-Band UST pickup connected to an Ibanez B-Band A5T preamp with with an onboard tuner and 2-band EQ powered by a 9V battery, and feeding a ¼" output jack.
