The JSA5 is a JSA series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2010. It is an acoustic signature model for American guitarist Joe Satriani.
The JSA5 features a classic, thin-waisted body with a Florentine cutaway with a solid Englemann spruce top with abalone purfling and white binding and mahogany back and sides with a gloss finish. The soundhole is round with an abalone rosette. It has a satin-finished mahogany neck with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The headstock features a reproduction of Satriani's signature; it appeared on the front of the headstock through 2014 and was then moved to be rear of the headstock. Components include an Ivorex II saddle in an rosewood bridge with Ibanez Advantage pins, an Ivorex II nut and chrome Grover tuning machines. Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore pickup connected to a Fishman Presys preamp with onboard tuner, a 9V battery and ¼" endpin output.
For 2013 significant changes were made in conjunction with the retirement of the flagship JSA10 model and its replacement with the JSA20. These included a new finish, slight changes in the body size and neck dimensions, along with some other small component changes. For 2017 the rosewood fretboard and bridge were replaced with cultured maple. For 2019 the mahogany neck was replaced with nyatoh and the mahogany back and sides were replaced with okoume. For 2021 the size of the body was changed slightly.
