The JS2, also known as the JS2 Chrome or the Chromeboy, is a solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1990. It is a signature model of American guitarist Joe Satriani and part of the Joe Satriani series. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
The JS2 was Ibanez's first attempt to create a chrome-plated JS model. Due to problems with the chroming process, the guitar was never widely distributed and only a few were made. The few that made it into the hands of customers are some of the most collectible/ valuable guitars Ibanez has produced due to their rarity.
The JS2 featured an American basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and dual DiMarzio humbucking pickups.
In 1998 Ibanez tried again to produce a chromed guitar with the JS10th and then once more with the limited-edition JS2 Premium Rock Mirror in 2005.
