The JEM77WDP is a JEM series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2016. It is a signature model of American guitarist Steve Vai. It was a made in Indonesia as part of the mid-tier Premium line.
The JEM77WDP is commonly referred to as the "JEM Woody" due to its stained finish and striking poplar burl veneer pickguard and matching headstock.
The JEM77WDP features a rosewood top on a mahogany body bolted to a maple and walnut Wizard neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with Tree of Life vine inlays. Components include an Edge Zero II double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut, DiMarzio Dark Matter 2 pickups with a pair of humbuckers with decorative covers flanking a single-coil and wooden knobs.
For 2018 the rosewood top was replaced with walnut and the rosewood fretboard was replaced with panga panga.
The JEM77P is a related model with different wood species for the body and different pickups.
The JEM77WDP was discontinued after 2018.

The video below documents the creation of Vai's original JEM Woody from the consultation at Hoshino's L.A. Custom Shop between Vai and Ibanez master luthier Tak Hosono, through the creation of the prototype by Hosono and other Ibanez technicians. Some changes are obvious between this prototype and the production guitar including the body cap (crotch mahogany rather than rosewood), neck construction (bubinga instead of walnut), tremolo and pickups. However, the overall design and appearance of the production guitar is quite faithful to the original.
