The JCS21U is a limited edition S series solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 2021. It was made in Japan by Sugi as part of the exclusive J Custom line.
The JCS21U features a 13.5mm thick exotic maple top on a Honduras mahogany body mated to a set-in Honduras mahogany neck with an asymmetric Ultra profile and an ebony fingerboard with 22 Jescar EVO Gold frets with J.Custom edge treatment, offset abalone dot position markers and Luminlay phosphorescent side dots. Components include a pair of DiMarzio Titan humbucking pickups, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The "U" in the model name represents the Ultra neck profile and ultra-light weight; the four examples produced weigh between 3.01 kg (6 lb. 10.2 oz.) and 3.08 kg (6 lb. 12.6 oz.). In order to further reduce weight no tremolo cavity cover is included. Each piece has a unique finish on the top with black paint on the rear of the body and neck.
The JCS21U was offered only in 2021 and was sold only in Japan.
