This model is available in two gradient finishes – a grey finish that evokes a powerful and endless earth inspired by the spirit that controls the earth "Gnome" and a gold finish inspired by the wind-controlling spirit "Sylph" which calls to mind a gentle enveloping wind. In each case the gradient of the finish is extended onto the fretboard with a dye. JCRG2002 Gnome (more images) |
The JCRG2002 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2020. It is crafted in Japan by Sugi as part of the high-end J Custom line. The JCR2002 is a spot model which is sold exclusively by select Japanese and European music retailers.
The JCRG2002 features a 4mm thick exotic maple top on an African mahogany body bolted to a wenge and purpleheart neck with a birdseye maple fingerboard with 24 frets with hemispherical fret end treatment and mother of pearl dot position markers. The headstock has the same exotic maple veneer as the top. Components include DiMarzio pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, recessed Easy Access control knobs, Gotoh tuning machines and Gotoh Free-Lock II strap pins.
Just two examples of each finish are being produced.[1][2]
The JCRG2001 is a similar model with an alder body, a maple and purpleheart neck, and chrome hardware. The JCRG2003 is a similar model with a Hawaiian Koa top.
