The JCRG1902 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2019. It was crafted in Japan by Sugi as part of the high-end J Custom line. The JCRG1902 is a spot model which is sold exclusively by select Japanese music retailers.
The JCRG1902 features a 4mm thick Hawaiian koa top filled with blue resin on a slightly smaller (98% normal size) RG body of African mahogany bolted to a roasted maple and African mahogany neck with Velvetouch finish which is also slightly shorter than the typical RG neck with a 24¾" scale. The neck has a selected figured maple fingerboard with 24 nickel silver frets with hemispherical fret end treatment and abalone dot position markers. The headstock has the same Hawaiian koa veneer. Components include a pair of EMG active humbucking pickups with chrome covers, a Gotoh tune-o-matic style bridge with custom chrome and Hawaiian koa tailpiece, recessed Easy Access control knobs, Gotoh tuning machines with matte black buttons and Gotoh Free-Lock II strap pins.
Previous similarly downsized RG models include the JCRG11M, JCRG11R, JCRG16C01 and JCRG1701 — all of these models have tremolos. The JCRG1403 is a downsized model with a similar tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece.
The JCRG1901 is another downsized, limited J Custom released in 2019, but it has a tremolo bridge and doesn't have the resin filled top. The JCRG1903 is a related, full-sized, limited, J Custom RG model offered in 2019.
The JCRG1902 was produced only in 2019.
