The JCRG1701 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2017. It was crafted in Japan by Sugi as part of the high-end J Custom line.
The JCRG1701 features a slightly smaller (98% normal size) RG body. It has a two-piece African Mahogany body with a 4mm thick selected exotic maple top with natural binding. The maple and bubinga neck is also slightly shorter than the typical RG neck with a 24¾" scale and a Velvetouch satin finish on the back. The neck has a 24-fret ebony fretboard with white pearl dot position markers and a headstock which matches the top. The frets are medium/jumbo size.
Components include dual DiMarzio humbucking pickups, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut, Gotoh locking strap locks and Gotoh tuning machines.
The finishes are designed to evoke the musha armor of the Japanese samurai.
Other similarly downsized RG models include the JCRG11M, JCRG11R, JCRG1403 and the JCRG16C01.
The JCRG1701 was offered only in 2017.
