The JCAZ22S01 is an AZ series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2022. It was crafted in Japan by Sugi as part of the high-end J Custom line.
The JCAZ22S01 features a flamed walnut top with an open pore finish on an alder body bolted to an S-Tech roasted maple oval C shaped neck with a compound radius S-Tech roasted maple fingerboard with 22 stainless steel frets, mother of pearl dot position markers and luminescent side dots. Components include Seymour Duncan Fortuna pickups mounted in a red tortoise pickguard with a humbucker at the bridge and single-coils in the neck and middle positions, a non-recessed T1702B two-point synchronized tremolo bridge, a bone nut, an angled output jack and Gotoh locking tuning machines with height-adjustable posts.
The JCAZ22S01 employs a dyna-MIX9 switching system (see diagram below) with an "Alter switch" toggle which allows the user to access nine distinct tones. The Alter switch allows the player to access two modes with the single coils connected in series creating a tone similar to a second humbucker.
The JCAZ22S01 debuted at the Guitar Summit in Mannheim, Germany, in September 2022.
