The IKAZ02 is an AZ series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2019. It is a spot model offered exclusively by Japanese retailer Ikebe Gakki which was produced in Japan by Fujigen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The IKAZ02 features an alder body bolted to an S-Tech roasted maple oval C shaped neck with an S-Tech roasted maple fingerboard with 22 stainless steel frets, black dot position markers and luminescent side dots. Components include direct mounted Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups with a humbucker at the bridge and single-coils in the neck and middle positions, a T1802 two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with titanium saddles made by Gotoh, an oil-impregnated bone nut, an angled output jack and Gotoh locking tuning machines with height-adjustable posts.
The IKAZ02 employs a dyna-MIX9 switching system (see diagram below) with an "Alter switch" toggle which allows the user to access nine distinct tones. The Alter switch allows the player to access two modes with the single coils connected in series creating a tone similar to a second humbucker.
The AZ2204 is a related regular production model with a white pearloid pickguard. The IKAZ01 is a similar model with a vintage white finish and a white pearloid pickguard. The IKAZ03 is a similar model with a black finish and pickguard. The IKAZ04 is a double humbucker version released at the same time.
The IKAZ02 was discontinued in 2020.
