Gotoh Free Locks are a type of locking guitar or bass locking device. They are installed on several high-end Ibanez models. They are manufactured by the G-GOTOH Gut Co., Ltd. in Japan.
Free Lock pins consist of two components: the pin which is screwed into the guitar body and the button which is attached to the guitar strap. The button connects to the screw and is secured by a thumb screw thus providing a secure physical connection between the strap and the guitar. These strap locks prevent the accidental decoupling of the strap.
The initial version gave way to the Gotoh Free Lock II at some point in the early 2000s. The differences between the two versions are relatively minor.
The Gotoh Strap Locker is an updated locking strap pin which was introduced around 2020.
