The GSRM20L is a left-handed, short scale Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2010 as part of the entry level GIO line. Initial production was in China, but starting in 2012 simultaneous production began in Indonesia; Chinese production stopped after 2013. Minor differences between the Chinese and Indonesian models are noted below.
The GSRM20 features a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a 28.6" scale maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Powersound pickups with a jazz pickup at the bridge and a precision pickup at the neck, a B10 bridge with 19mm string spacing, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
Several different woods have been used for the body material including basswood, poplar and agathis. For 2017 the Powersound pickups were replaced with Dynamix. For 2018 the rosewood fingerboard was replaced with treated New Zealand pine or jatoba. For 2019 the fretboard material was changed to jatoba.
