The GSR206SM is a six string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2014. It is made in Indonesia as part of the entry level GIO line.
The GSR206SM features a spalted maple top on a double-cutaway agathis body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Dynamix passive pickups with a Phat II equalizer, a B16 bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2018 the body material was changed to poplar and the rosewood fingerboard was replaced with jatoba.
The GSR200SM and GSR205SM are similar four and five string models. The GSR206B is a similar model without the spalted maple top.
