The GRGM51HP "Sonic" is an RG series short-scale miKro solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2007. It was produced in China as part of the entry-level GIO line.
The GRGM51HP features a nato body bolted to a 22.2" scale maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth position markers. It is distinguished from the other models in the miKro lineup with a built-in speaker in place of the neck pickup which allows some distortion effects. Due to the addition of the speaker, the GRGM51HP has only a single humbucker pickup in the bridge position. In addition to the standard ¼" output jack there is also a headphone output as well as a 12V/ 300mA DC input which can power the speaker in place of the on-board 9V battery.
In place of the tone control the GRGM51HP has a 5-way rotary switch to select a variety of built-in distortion effects: a tuning tone, a clean tone, a dirt/crunch tone, a distortion, and a "metal" distortion.
The GRGM51HP was discontinued in 2008 and sold only in the USA market.
