The GB2K Masquerade is a hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2000. It is a signature model for American jazz guitarist George Benson. It was made in Japan.
The GB2K was one of three special signature "Millennium Models" introduced for 2000; the others were the JS2K for Joe Satriani and the JEM2K for Steve Vai. Each guitar in the series features an image representing all three guitars on the rear of its headstock: a DNA double helix for the JEM2K, a ringed planet for the JS2K and a Mardi Gras style mask for the GBK2. The image associated with the particular model is placed in the center and slightly enlarged. Each of the models was produced in limited numbers.
The GB2K features a smallish, single cutaway, full hollow body design with a solid spruce top with ƒ holes, special bracing and multi-layer binding on flame maple back and sides mated to a set-in five-piece maple, bubinga and walnut neck with a large headstock and a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with binding and pearl/acrylic and abalone split block position markers. Components include dual, floating Ibanez GB special humbucking pickups with flamed wood covers and individual volume and tone controls; a height-adjustable ebony bridge with special adjustable split trapeze tailpiece with pearl inlay; an oil-dipped bone nut; special white wooden bell knobs; and an ebony pickguard with Masquerade logo inlay in silver powder.
Just forty examples of the GB2K were produced. Each came with a numbered, embossed gold certificate of authenticity.
