The GA40 is an GA series classical acoustic guitar model intoduced by Ibanez for 1989. It was produced at the Peerless Plant in Korea.
The GA40 features a classical body shape with a cedar top on ovangkol back and sides. The soundhole is round and trimmed with an intricate inlaid wood rosette. It has a nato neck, a 19-fret rosewood fingerboard with a rosewood headstock. Components include a none compensated bone saddle in a bubinga bridge with tie block , a bone nut, and chrome plated classic tuning machines with pearloid buttons.
For 1990 the body material was changed to rosewood.
The GA30 is a similar model with spruce top and mahogany body. GA80 is a similar model with cedar top a nato body, rosewood bridge and gold hardware.
