The UCMD Silversnake is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1989. It was produced in the United States as part of the Metal Design series of the USA Custom line. The Metal Design models feature bodies which are covered in iridescent fabrics in exotic designs.
This Ibanez USA Custom Metal Design "UCMD" features a beautiful and very rare "Silversnake" Copper Head Metallic finish with black chrome hardware. A HSS configuration, 24 jumbo frets, Sharktooth inlays on a Rosewood fingerboard, 1-piece maple / Wizard neck & Tilt Joint, comes with the Edge double locking tremolo bridge manufactured by Gotoh for Ibanez & includes the original Ibanez U.S.A.Custom hard shell case and tremolo arm.
Most of the UCMD guitars were made as a RG560-1H, routed as a single humbucker, then routed out as needed by the custom shop. ( The UCMD Silversnake can be found with the following pickups configurations: H, HS, HSS, HSH, HH & you can find the "Silversnake" with reverse headstock as well. )
The Silversnake was discontinued in 1990 after two years of production.
