The SC420 is an S Classic series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1997. It was among the first S Classic models and was produced through 2003.

The SC420 was modeled on the SF420 which was a limited edition spot model from 1996.

The S Classic body is described as a marriage of the S series and the classic Radius, although it has few actual similarities with the Radius.

The SC420 features a mahogany body bolted to a 25.1" (638mm) scale maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a fixed bridge and dual Ibanez Vintage humbucking pickups.

The SC620 was a similar model with a flamed maple top and the SC420CM was another similar model with a curly maple top.
