The UCGR2 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1991. It was produced in the United States as part of the Graphic Design series of the USA Custom line. The Graphic Design models feature bodies which are handpainted by "some of the most skilled and imaginative artists in America".[1]
The UCGR2 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth position markers. Components include dual DiMarzio PAF Pro humbucking pickups, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The image on this guitar, entitled "The Winged Being", features a winged figure taking flight against the backdrop of the moon. It was handpainted and signed by Pamelina H.
This represents only the "stock" configuration, as customers could customize the guitar to their own desires. The customer could select the pickup configuration and pickups, the fretboard material and inlays, the headstock, the hardware color and more.
The UCGR2 was discontinued after 1991 although a similar Custom Graphics series was offered in 1992.
